Dealing with withdrawal

Many smokers experience withdrawal symptoms when they quit. It can help to think of withdrawal as a recovery period – signs that your body and mind are healing and repairing themselves.

The good news is that these symptoms lessen over the first few days or weeks and you can take action to reduce their effects.
Some of the symptoms you may experience are:

  • irritability
  • headaches
  • dizziness
  • trouble sleeping

Ways to deal with these symptoms include:

  • relaxation exercises
  • listening to your favourite music
  • reducing your caffeine intake
