Buddies may be smokers or non-smokers and may be of any relation to the participant, provided the buddy is a person other than the participant him or herself.
- Random draws to select the potential winners from all eligible entries received will be conducted by a representative of the Contest Sponsor on March 31, 2010, at approximately 10:00 AM EST in Toronto, Ontario. The first selected entrant, drawn from all eligible entries received prior to 11:59 p.m. EST on January 31, 2010 (“Early Bird Prize Deadline”), will be eligible to win the early bird prize. Odds of winning the early bird prize depend on the total number of eligible entries received by the Early Bird Prize Deadline. Following the early bird prize draw, a random draw from all eligible entries received by the Entry Deadline will be conducted to select the entrant who will be eligible to win the grand prize. Odds of winning the grand prize depend on the total number of eligible entries received by the Entry Deadline. Following the grand prize draw, two random draws from all eligible entries received will be conducted to determine two selected entrants who will be eligible for the two secondary prizes. Odds of winning a secondary prize depend on the total number of eligible entries received by the Entry Deadline. Then, seven random draws will be conducted, each to select one potential regional prize from all eligible entries received for each of the seven regions. Odds of winning a regional prize depend on the total number of eligible entries received by region by the Entry Deadline. Entrants will qualify as part of a region based on their postal code association with one of seven Ontario provincial tobacco control area regions. Entrants can confirm what region they are in by contacting their local public health unit. Buddies associated with the selected early bird prize, grand prize, secondary prize and regional prize entrants will be eligible to win a buddy prize. Buddies are not required to live within to same region as the entrant to be eligible to win a buddy prize. Odds of winning a buddy prize depend on the number of eligible buddy entries received. Selected entrants will be contacted by telephone at the telephone number(s) indicated on his/her entry. If a selected entrant or buddy cannot be reached within 24 hours of the draw, or if the selected entrant declines the prize, or does not otherwise comply with these Contest Rules (“Rules”) he/she will forfeit his/her prize and another random draw will be conducted to select a replacement entrant in the same manner.
- Potential winners (including their buddies) may be requested to provide proof of identification and eligibility. All buddies will be asked to confirm that eligible contest entrants who are potential winners have in fact remained smoke-free for the month of March 2010. Each selected entrant will be required to take a urine test to be conducted by DriverCheck at a location of their choice in Ontario within 2-3 days following March 31, 2010, or following the day of initial contact with the Contest Sponsor, to verify his/her smoke-free status. In the event that the potential winner has used a sacred/traditional (non-commercial) tobacco product during the month of March 2010 or any time before the urine test, he/she must declare such use to the Contest Sponsor. Potential winners will need to remain smoke-free until after testing, and while testing results are evaluated, which can take up to a couple of weeks after the Contest Closing Date. Please note, we recommend all entrants remain smoke-free until after a winner is announced in the event that a re-draw is required for prizing.
- Each selected entrant and selected buddy will be required to correctly answer, unaided, a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question to be administered by telephone at a mutually convenient time, before being named a winner. Each selected entrant and buddy must also return a signed Declaration and Release of liability and publicity within a specified period of time, before being named a winner, failing which he/she will forfeit his/her prize.
